Are you a good candidate for Refractive Surgery/Lasik?
LASIK is the most commonly performed refractive surgery procedure. LASIK is actually short for "laser assisted in situkeratomileusis." Lasik has advantages over other procedures, including a relative lack of pain afterward and the fact that improved vision is usually noticeable by the very next day.
A good candidate for refractive surgery must be at least 18 years old and have a prescription that falls within the scope of correction. Good candidates should meet the following criteria:
Have a stable prescription
Free of eye disease such as cataracts or glaucoma
Free of eye viruses and in good general health with no autoimmune or collagen vascular disease
Not be on any medication which makes you immunocompromised
Not be pregnant or nursing
