Catherine Smoot-Haselnus, M.D.

 


Catherine Smoot-Haselnus, M.D., a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, is a graduate of Western Maryland College where she received her B.A. in Biology. She received her M.S. in Microbiology from the University of Maryland Graduate School and her Medical Degree from the  University of Maryland Medical School.  Dr. Smoot completed her residency in ophthalmology at Albany Medical College, Albany, N.Y. and her visiting fellowship at Moorefield's Eye Hospital, London, England.   Dr. Smoot has been in private practice since 1990.  In addition to caring for her individual patients, she has been an advocate for all Maryland patients in her former role as President of MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society and as president MSEPS, the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a delegate to the American Medical Association.

 

 

 

 

 

   

 

 

 

 

Todd M. Bescak, D.O.

 


Todd M. Bescak, D.O., a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, is a graduate of The College of Wooster, Ohio where he received his B.A. in Chemistry. He received his Medical Degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Bescak completed his residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where he also served as Chief Resident.  Dr. Bescak has been in practice since 2003.  In addition to caring for his individual patients, he served as a camp counselor for children with cancer and leukemia and volunteered at Mercy Ships which aids in the medical/surgical treatment for the underprivileged people of Honduras. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Jason M. Yonker, M.D.

 


 

Jason M. Yonker, M.D., a board certified ophthalmologist, is a fellowship trained Glaucoma Specialist.  He received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine.  Dr. Yonker completed his residency at the Kresge Eye Institute, where he served as the Chief Resident.  He went on to complete a fellowship in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery at the Kresge Eye Institute.  Prior to joining our practice, Dr. Yonker was part of the Wayne State University faculty where he taught the most state of the art glaucoma and cataract surgical procedures to medical students and doctors in training.  He and his wife, Dr. Preeti Yonker, decided to join our Eastern Shore community to be closer to his family who live in Ocean City.  In his free time, he enjoys competing in triathlons and spending time on the water fishing. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jeanne Murphy-Moore, O.D.

 


 

Dr. Murphy-Moore, a therapeutic optometrist, is a graduate of Wilkes University.  She obtained her Optometric degree from the Philadephia College of Optometry.  In addition to providing general optometric care for Chesapeake Eye Center patients, Dr. Murphy-Moore is well versed in contact lens technology and offers options for individuals with difficult fits.  Dr. Murphy has been caring for patients in our practice since 1994.  Dr. Murphy's concern for patient care extends outside the office.  She is past President of Delmar Lions Club where she chaired the diabetic committee. She is currently Secretary of the Maryland State Board of Optometry, the body responsible for licensing and discipline of optometrists within the state and also serves on several committies on the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Katherine J. Shuell, O.D.

 


 

Katherine J. Shuell, O.D. is a graduate of Ferris State University.  She obtained her Optometric degree from the Michigan College of Optometry.  Her training experience includes patient care at a Community Health Center and at John Dingle VA Hospital in Detroit.
